Roommates (2026 Netflix) Review
Roommates (2026 Netflix)

When I first saw the Roommates movie trailer on YouTube, I was nursing a hangover and at the same time trying to watch something that could help me sleep. I immediately wanted to watch the whole film because it was exciting, and you know how films give off everything in the trailer, and you feel like you know the whole movie before even watching it? Yeah, this was not the case. Before we continue, I just want to let you know that I might give a few spoilers ahead, so if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like that, I’d probably scroll down to where I have the review.

The plot of Roommates

The movie opens with a scene showcasing two roommates fighting, and the dean of student life ‘Dr. Schilling’, calls the two students to her office to help resolve the matter. Now, the whole idea is that the story narrated by Dr. Schilling is about two roommates who had a horrible experience living together. She does this in an attempt to tell the other girls that their living situation cannot be worse than that of the former students, Celeste played by Chloe East and Devon played by Sadie Sandler.

Personal Experience

I had a roommate once; at the beginning it was exciting. We even shared hopes and dreams, and it was really just us against the world. But soon after, the cracks started showing, and it lowkey felt like I was walking on eggshells, and the house we both shared didn’t feel like a safe place anymore. Our situation was bad, but it was nothing compared to what Devon and Celeste had going on. Theirs was insane, to say the least.

I would absolutely love to get into the intricate details on what was happening during my time cohabiting with another individual, but I don’t like the idea of painting someone to be the bad guy. Not that there really was; it was more of a situation whereby our lives did not align, in that, we were both in different seasons. This meant that we were both navigating our own worlds, however we saw fit at that time.

So will I ever move in with someone? No. I’d rather live by myself or my family, or maybe a spouse when that time comes. But I will not be having a roommate ever again. And the whole roommate trauma that most people talk about, should be a lived experience for you to ultimately decide if that is a good fit for you or not. That being said, I cannot advice you not to move in with a roommate because sometimes people have amazing roommate stories. If anything, I’d tell you to try it out and then make a decision moving forward based on how things were for you.

Special Appearance

Did I mention that Megan Thee Stallion appears in the film as well? I was gagged. We all love Megan, and seeing her expand her career and appear in films is really exciting. She has appeared in several films over the years, with her first debut into acting in 2023, where she had a major role as Gloria in Dicks: The Musical.

The Review

I’d easily give it an 8.5 out of 10. I love a good comedy; I especially love it when I can relate to the characters, and I feel like lately, whenever I can relate to a story, it automatically becomes an exceptional watch. Roommates is the kind of film you would want to watch with your girlfriends on a sleepover or just with your roommate. It can be a really fun experience.
